Providence Public Library and Providence Schools Issue Summer Reading Lists
Lists are available online and linked to Library Catalog
Providence Public Library (PPL) is pleased to announce that, through a collaborative effort between PPL and Providence Schools librarians, this summer’s Providence Public Schools K-12 summer reading lists are available online and linked directly to the Library’s catalog for easy holds and pick up.
The collaborative lists take advantage of the statewide Summer Reading Program mystery theme, Get a Clue @ Your Library. All students are encouraged to go to their nearest branch library and enroll in the Summer Reading Program. PPL and the Providence School Department strongly encourage parents to read to and with their children each day during the summer vacation. It is recommended that children read at least 10 books during the summer months. Parents should feel free to read not only the specific titles on the Summer Reading lists, but also other works by the authors identified.
In addition to varied mystery/reading activities at all libraries, there will be prizes and free performances all summer long.
The Providence Summer Reading Program is sponsored by the Rhode Island Office of Library & Information Services, the Institute of Museum and Library Services, your Rhode Island McDonald's Restaurants, Citizens Bank Foundation, and Providence Public Library.
