Providence Public Library Back on Gallery Night Tour Beginning March 20
Providence Public Library (PPL) is pleased to announce that, beginning March 20, its Central Library will once again be an official stop on the Gallery Night Providence Tour! More info at: www.gallerynight.info. Every third Thursday from March through November, PPL will feature an exhibit from our collections and offer a discussion by Special Collections Librarian Richard Ring. In addition, the Library will present its new Visual Literacy Digital Slide Show discussion series led each week by a visiting local artist, according to Adult Program Coordinator Lisa Miller.

In our third floor marble staircase area, the Library will feature representative items drawn from its extensive circulating and non-circulating collections of architecture and design books, including items given by Providence architect Edward Irving Nickerson (1805-1908).
The Evening’s Highlighted Lectures
6:30 pm, Barnard Room, 3rd Floor: Visual Literacy Slide Presentation featuring the work of local artist Mark Freedman, who is recognized for his interpretation of the American landscape.
7:00 pm, Trustees Room, 3rd Floor: Introduction to PPL Special Collections -- Librarian Richard Ring will present a selection of rare and interesting items drawn from PPL’s Special Collections and discuss the informational and inspirational aspects of this under-utilized resource of the Library.
